Odd Customer Enquiry…

Interesting request from a potential client…

Had a request from a customer working in a chicken processing plant.  Apparently one way to process live chickens (humanely) is via a conveyor belt into a chamber, where the chickens are euthanized  using argon gas.  The client wanted to know  exactly what volume of gas suppressed the oxygen enough to euthanize the chickens.  What we promote is air quality, so this was pretty much the opposite of what we try to achieve!   They were looking for us to supply a gas detector that would alarm when gas level reached a certain point , with a view to being effective and also not over using/wasting Argon gas.  After that, then of course an air quality detector confirming it was safe for staff to re-enter chamber.  A little bit of a challenge, but yes…it can be done!  And just in case you are wondering “is gassing the chicken safe for human consumption?” I’m led to believe yes.
